Blue White

Blue White is inspired by the raw intensity and quiet wonder of the cosmos. It reflects the absolute magnitude of a blue-white star—one of the hottest and brightest in the universe—surrounded by layers of shifting gases and suspended in the deep stillness of space. This piece captures the relationship between that piercing luminosity and the endless dark that surrounds it, inviting a moment of stillness within something vast.

Constructed using acrylic, resin, and mixed media on panel board, the surface is layered with rich tones of deep sky blue. Acrylic is applied in fluid strokes to create areas of shadow and depth, evoking the subtle movement of gases around a burning star. Hints of resin form translucent clouds across the composition, catching the light at certain angles and bringing an atmospheric softness to the darker forms. Scattered jewelled elements punctuate the piece, calling to mind the distant shimmer of stars viewed from across time and space.

Though modest in size at 38cm x 38 cm, Blue White holds an expansive presence. Its texture and tonal contrast invite close viewing, while the subject matter pulls the imagination outward, toward the scale of the stars.
