Lumen

Lumen captures a quiet moment suspended in light and space. The piece draws inspiration from handcrafted basket lanterns found in peaceful corners across the world. These simple objects are made to hold light, but they also carry with them a sense of memory, stillness, and gentle presence. In this work, the lantern becomes both an anchor and a symbol, floating against a calm blue sky.

The central form glows with warmth. Layers of gold, bronze, and amber spiral from within, creating depth and radiance. A thin black thread suspends the piece, barely visible, adding to its sense of stillness and lightness. Fine strands reach outward from the core, like rays or gently swaying fibres, suggesting energy moving beyond the visible frame or the faint stir of air around it.

At 65cm x 110cm, Lumen feels expansive and intimate at once. It invites the viewer to pause and be present, offering a moment of softness and clarity.
